Gene with Howard Finster. One day Kevin Sartain was photographing Howard Finster (1916 – 2001, a Georgia artist and Baptist minister whose folk art sculpture garden had some 46,000 pieces of art) and brought Gene along to make a day of it. Says Sartain: “What a complete blast.”

Showing off his Tattoo: “We were among the last people to be allowed into the chapel that Finster built,” says Sartain. " At some point Gene decided to show off his mole tattoo. So that’s what is going on in that photo.”
